Pickens Street closed after tractor-trailer strike power pole

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– City of Columbia officials say Pickens Street from Blanding to Washington is closed after a tractor-trailer hit a power pole.

Power lines are down in the area, and causing outages at several surrounding locations.

Some lines are actively sparking, say city officials.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.

Use extreme caution if traveling nearby, and if traffic lights aren’t working, use intersection as four-way stop.
