Highway Patrol investigating wreck that killed Greenwood police officer

GREENWOOD, S.C. (WOLO) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a wreck that killed a Greenwood police officer Monday.

According to Master Trooper Hannah Davidson, at 4:54 p.m., the driver of a 2016 Jeep Wrangler was evading law enforcement on East Cambridge Avenue at South Ames Street, when they crossed the median and struck Officer DJ Keller’s vehicle head-on.

Authorities say Officer Keller died from his injuries, while the driver and two passengers in the Jeep Wrangler were injured and taken to a hospital.

This incident remains under investigation.
