Census data shows growth in American suburbs

(CNN)– Census data from 2025 shows growth in American suburbs.

It often comes at the expense of growth in the cities they surround.

Some cities like New York even lost population as their outlying areas grew.

Declining large city growth was most pronounced in the northeast due to people moving to the sun belt.

The biggest benefactor has been the Dallas metroplex, which is home to four of the top five fastest growing cities.

Another one in the top five is in suburban Houston.
