SCOTUS rejects big pharma appeals on drug prices

(CNN)– The Supreme Court has rejected a series of appeals from several of the nation’s biggest drugmakers who are looking to block medicare-negotiated price cuts.

The high court denied the appeals without explanation.

The pharmaceutical companies include Astrazeneca and Janssen.

They have argued the program forces them to give their drugs to medicare without just compensation.

Lower courts have rejected that argument noting companies are free to pull their products from government health programs.

The program was enacted during the Biden Administration as part of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.
