Google updates search bar

(CNN)– Google wants to keep its edge in the internet space it once completely dominated.

The company unveiled new Ai powered features for its search engine Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

It comes as chatbots from Open Ai and Anthropic are eroding its share of the category.

Among the biggest changes are users will be able to create agents in Google search that can work on their own over time.

The example Google cited was agents could be used to keep users aware of new announcements from their favorite brands or athletes.
