Landmark regulations against ‘forever’ toxins removed by Trump administration
(CNN)– The Trump Administration has removed key regulations against so-called “forever chemicals” or “PFA’s.”
The regulations were put in place to help protect drinking water from dangerous cancer-causing substances.
Monday, May 18, 2026, the EPA announced plans to rescind and restart regulations on four types of “forever chemicals.”
In addition to the new regulations drinking water systems can now petition for an extra two-years to comply.
The new extension deadline is 2031.
