U.S. Treasury yield highest since 2007
(CNN)– The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield has hit its highest level in 19 years.
The 30-year yield rose to 5.2% Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
It’s a sign that inflation fears and worries about interest rate hikes are taking hold of the treasury market.
As the Iran war continues, angst over government spending is causing investors to pull back from treasury bonds.
And that’s not the only sector taking a hit from the war, with the Strait of Hormuz closed oil and gas prices are at their highest levels in four years.
