Splash pad in St. Matthews shut down after 2 alligators spotted in area

CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Midlands community shut down a park and a splash pad after two alligators were spotted in the area.

Officials with the Town of Saint Matthews say the park and splash pad in the inspiration park area are closed until further notice.

Witnesses say one of the gators is seven feet long, the other three feet.

The SC Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
