Driver killed after striking deer & several trees on Monticello Rd. overnight

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says one person is dead following a collision overnight Tuesday.

It happened at 1 a.m. at Monticello Road near Kinsler Road.

According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, the driver of a 2021 Hyundai Elantra struck a deer, went off the road and struck several trees.

The driver died from their injuries while a passenger was hurt and taken to the hospital.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not released the victim’s identity as of yet.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
