DSS to host World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Walk Friday

 

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – The public is invited to take part in the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Walk hosted by the South Carolina Department of Social Services (DSS) Adult Advocacy Division Friday, June 12, 2026.

According to DSS, hundreds participate in the annual event which starts at 9 a.m. at the DSS state office. The office is located at 1535 Confederate Avenue, Columbia.

The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Walk provides an opportunity for the community to shine a light on the physical, emotional and financial abuse many older adults experience.

DSS participates each year to raise awareness, encourage reporting and remind people that protecting vulnerable adults is a responsibility shared by all.
