Trump Administration proposes new rules for prediction markets

(CNN)– Prediction markets will largely be left alone after new proposed guidelines from the Trump Administration were released Wednesday.

The new rules would continue to allow most sports betting which makes up a large majority of trades on sites like Kalshi and Polymarket.

But the new rules unveiled by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission will allow federal regulators to reign in some sports markets that are easily manipulated.

That includes betting on player injuries and officiating outcomes.
