Local Living: Black Eats Week 803, Summer Break Cafes, Battle of the Badges, Toucan Tuesdays

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, Black Eats Week 803 is back in the Midlands

From now through Sunday you can find specials from several black-owned food establishments in the Midlands.

You’ll even have a chance to win cash prizes.

Summer Break Cafes are back at the Richland Library.

Now through August 2 free lunches will be available for ages 18 and under from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

They will be offered at three locations, the North Main Street, Oak Street and Broad River Road.

Meals are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last and must be eaten onsite.

The 15th annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is Tuesday, June 23.

It will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Red Cross office on Bull Street and the Decker Center on Decker Boulevard.

Columbia Police Department, Columbia-Richland Fire Department and Richland County deputies are competing for the most blood donations, and you can vote for your favorite agency.

You can help feed those in need by taking part in Riverbanks Zoo and Harvest Hopes’ Toucan Tuesdays initiative Tuesday.

Guests who donate two non-perishable food items will receive buy-one get-one admission tickets and buy-one-get one regular sized icees.

Toucan Tuesdays take place every Tuesday through August 11.
