Central banks plan to sell U.S. dollars

(CNN)– There’s indication of a global shift away from U.S. currency called “De-dollarization.”

A survey of 74 central banks from around the world finds that many plan to cut their dollar holdings instead of increase them.

Instead many of the banks plan to invest in gold.

It’s a sign that international banks think the U.S. dollar has become riskier reducing demand for the currency and its value.

The findings come amid the U.S. war with Iran which upended global energy markets.
