Warning signs for heat stroke, heat exhaustion
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– These hot temperatures we’re experiencing are not only uncomfortable they can also be dangerous.
Doctors with Prisma Health say two of the most common types of heat related illnesses are heat exhaustion and heat strokes.
Experts say if someone is experiencing heat exhaustion they may have muscle cramps, weakness, and heavy sweating.
The person should be moved to a cooler place as quickly as possible, offered sips of cold water, and have any tight fitting garments loosened.
The symptoms of heat stroke include rapid pulse, nausea, and vomiting.
If someone is experiencing these symptoms doctors say call 9-1-1 immediately.
Experts say certain medications can also create increased sensitivity to the sun.
