Study: Waymo’s driverless cars crash less than human drivers

(CNN)– Waymo’s driverless cars are involved in far fewer crashes compared cars driven by human drivers, according to a new study.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released the new findings.

The study broke down crash rates in four cities from 2021 to 2024.

Researchers found Waymos were involved in 68% fewer crashes than human drivers.

Crash rates were 76% lower in Phoenix, 71% lower in Los Angeles and 35% lower in San Francisco.
