Local Living: Back-to-school drive, Sistercare’s toiletry drive, Soda City Comic Con, Toucan Tuesdays

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, The South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs is still hosting its back-to-school drive.

It runs now through August 14.

You can drop off school supplies at participating locations to help military connected kids.

You can donate to the City of Columbia and Sistercare’s toiletry drive to help victims of domestic violence.

They are looking for donations like facial wipes and liquid hand soap.

You can donate through October 31.

Soda City Comic Con returns to the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center next weekend.

There will be over 150 artists, vendors, cosplayers and more.

Special guests include Wilson Bethel, Taylor Gray and Peter Weller.

It takes place Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, August 23, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

You can help feed those in need by taking part in Riverbanks Zoo and Harvest Hopes’ “Toucan Tuesdays” initiative.

Guests who donate two non-perishable food items will receive buy-one-get-one admission tickets and buy-one-get-one regular sized Icees.

The last day to donate is Tuesday, August 11.
