Local Living: Town of Chapin’s Labor Day celebration, Keep the Midlands Beautiful, Jubilee Festival, Okra Strut

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— In today’s look at Local Living, the Town of Chapin is hosting its annual Labor Day celebration.

This year’s theme is “Stars, Stripes and Service—Celebrating 250 years”.

There will be a 5k run, live music, food, and a parade.

The fun kicks off tomorrow, September 5, and runs through Monday, September 7.

Keep the Midlands Beautiful is looking to clean up the trash on Lake Murray.

The lake/river sweep event starts Saturday, September 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Supplies, t-shirts, and prizes will be provided.

The deadline to register is Saturday.

You can learn about Black history at the 48th annual Jubilee Festival of Black History and Culture.

Historic Columbia is hosting the event at the Mann-Simons site from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 19.

The celebration features live music, food trucks, art demonstrations, and more.

Admission is free.

The Town of Irmo is hosting their 51st annual Okra Strut later this month.

Opening ceremonies will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday night, September 25.

Then the fun continues through Saturday, September 26 at 9 in the morning with a parade followed by family-friendly activities.

It all takes place at Moore Park and is free to attend.
