Man charged in connection with two home invasions

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– RCSD Sheriff Leon Lott says a man has been charged in connection with two home invasions.

On August 13, around 1 a.m., deputies responded in the 400 block of Warner Drive for a home invasion.

Deputies arrived to the scene and found forced entry to the home, says RCSD.

The victims explained to deputies that multiple suspects forced entry into their home with firearms and fatally shot their dog in the process.

The suspects left in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived to the area.

On August 25, around 11:45 p.m., deputies responded in the 300 block of Melstone Drive for multiple shots fired calls.

Deputies arrived to the scene and learned that forced entry was made into the home before the homeowner and suspects exchanged gunfire.

On September 2, RCSD investigators assisted the U.S. Marshall’s Office and Charleston PD with a search warrant and arrest warrant in the 200 block of Horseshoe Circle for Shaheim Jackson in connection with crimes within Charleston’s jurisdiction.

A vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle from surveillance footage in both home invasions was seen at the residence, says RCSD.

During the search warrant, an AR-15 Pistol was seized which was determined to be stolen.

Ballistic testing determined this was the same gun used in both Richland County home invasions, says RCSD.

Jackson is at the Al Cannon Detention Center for Charleston County’s warrants.

But upon his release in Charleston, he will be brought back to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center for two counts of burglary 1st degree, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of possession of a firearm by person convicted of a violent offense, one count of ill treatment of an animal, one count of kidnapping, and one count of attempted kidnapping.

RCSD investigators are looking for additional suspects involved in the home invasions.
