Rep. Pace calls for special session to address gas prices
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– One state representative is calling for a special session to address the high gas prices.
Representative Jordan Pace is proposing a gas tax rebate of $300 for every household that claimed dependents on its most recent state income tax return.
And $200 for every other household that filed a return, costing roughly $500 million.
Pace says funding could partially come from removing earmarks that don’t directly support first responders, education, or other vital infrastructure.
As of Tuesday, September 15, AAA reports the average price for regular gas in South Carolina is $4.03 a gallon while the national average is at $4.33.
