Boater finds man’s body floating in SC marsh

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a passing boater has found the body of a man floating in a marsh near Murrells Inlet beside his empty boat.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said it appears the man had only been dead a few hours before he was discovered around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Johnson says finishing equipment was found in the boat, and the man appears to have drowned.

The coroner says the man was carrying ID, but he won’t release his name until his family is notified.
