SC Olympians Bring Medals Home From Greece

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — It was a warm welcome home for a group of South Carolina Special Olympians Wednesday evening. The SC group brought home a total of 13 medals and 4 golds from the World Games in Athens, Greece. Greenville native Andrew Whaley was especially proud of his gold medal in the 4×400 relay. “I had fun,” Andrew said. “My trip was awesome.” Andrew’s father, Stephen, was happy he made the trip to Greece. “It was well worth the 27 hour flight over to see them cross the finish line…” he said. “There’s nothing I’ve ever experienced like it.”
