Some SC livestock farmers eligible for drought aid

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The worsening drought in South Carolina has made some livestock farmers eligible for federal disaster money.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the weather has been so dry in 10 counties that livestock farmers can get disaster money set aside for grazing animals.

Officials say farmers who want to make a claim in the Livestock Forage Disaster Program have until the end of the year.

The eligible counties are those which have reached severe drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. They are Aiken, Allendale, Beaufort, Bamberg, Barnwell, Colleton, Edgefield, Hampton, Jasper and McCormick counties.
