COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— An update tonight from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department on a life-saving interaction that played out on live TV.
On January 12, On Patrol Live captured moments of Corporal Kenny Fitzsimmons rescuing a man sitting on the edge of a bridge in Columbia.
26 year-old Daniel Kenny says he was sitting on the edge and staring at the traffic below.
Thankfully Fitzsimmons was able to pull the young man off the edge.
Today Sheriff Lott awarded both the deputy and Kenny the Sheriff’s Award for Excellence.
Kenny created Kenny Strong hats and patches to hand out to Fitzsimmons and other deputies, as proof positive of their interaction.
