Kitten stows away on SC Red Cross worker’s car

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Spartanburg kitten is resting after hitching a 30-mile ride on the car of a Spartanburg Red Cross worker.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports the kitten apparently rode all the way from the employee’s neighborhood to the Red Cross offices.

The employee first spotted the tiny, gray male kitten Friday morning in a neighbor’s yard and later saw the same kitten in the Red Cross parking lot.

Animal services officers finally coaxed the feline out of the wheel well of the employee’s Kia Sorento and took him to a clinic for evaluation.

Weighing in just over one pound, the kitten has been tentatively named Clarence. He’s staying at the Animal Allies Clinic until he’s big enough to be adopted.
