USC Students Remember 9/11

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Tuesday, USC students took time to remember those who continue to fight for America’s freedom. Students, once again, signed ‘Thank You’ cards that will be sent to servicemen and women overseas. USC students also signed cards yesterday, it’s all in honor of the 11th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans. “Their lives though, they are never going to get them back though, they were leaving their families,” says Mark Leonard, USC student. Leonard was in the 2nd grade in 2001. Tuesday, he remembered. “Really today I really think of people, they died with honor they were actually protecting our lliberty,” says Leonard. Other USC students took time to go to Rutledge Chapel to pray, while others worked off campus. Crandall Sims reporting, “Here at Lexington Interfaith Community Services students from USC and Midlands Tech have come together to volunteer for a day of service.” “You know service should be done all the time, but this week especially I think that, you know our nation should unite together and really come together and serve each other,” says Gina Perrotto, USC Volunteer. Perrotto is one of the student volunteers, individuals Robin Bowers, Executive Director of LICS, is happy to see. “Today especially, America comes together we remember a time that we never though would happen, yet it did,” says Bowers. Today, ‘Thank You’s’ are happenings through a simple signature from a USC student, who was likely in grammar school the day of the attacks.
