Sumter Advances To State Finals

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) — Another Gamecock baseball team is playing for a championship. Friday night, Sumter High School advanced to the class AAAA state championship series with a 5-0 shutout at home against Carolina Forest. Joshua Kisamore threw five shutout innings and 3-run fourth inning gave the Gamecocks plenty of offensive insurance. Sumter won the state championship in 2006. They will play Byrnes this year in a best-of-three series to determine a state champion. A.C. Flora fell one win short of making it to the class AAA state championship. Because of a 3-2 home loss to St. James earlier in the week, Flora had to win two games at St. James Friday night to take the AAA lower state championship. The Falcons whipped the Sharks 7-0 in game one. But St. James bounced back to win game two 7-0.
