Anderson man arrested in Belton shooting death
BELTON, S.C. (AP) — An Anderson man has been arrested in the weekend death of another man found near what appeared to be a wreck.
Anderson County sheriff’s spokesman Chad McBride says 31-year-old Steven Randall Cobb has been charged with murder.
A passer-by called 911 around 6 a.m. Sunday about a car that looked like it had run off the rural road. Deputies were called after firefighters discovered the man had been shot. He was found several yards from the car. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The coroner identified the victim Tuesday as 46-year-old Raymond Diehl of Anderson. Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says the scene may have been staged to look like a wreck.
Deputies said Cobb was in jail. It wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
