17-year-old male found shot to death in Greer home
GREER, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies say they have arrested a 21-year-old man who they say bought beer and bourbon for three underage people and had a gun that was fired and killed a 17-year-old at the party.
Investigators say Tyler Mowery was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting Wednesday morning in Greer.
Deputies say Mowery handled the gun recklessly, which led to the shooting death of Derek “Sean” Miller. The coroner’s office says Miller was shot at least once.
Mowery is charged with manslaughter, illegally carrying of a pistol, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and giving alcohol to a minor. He is awaiting a bond hearing and it wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
