Retired Court of Appeals Judge Huddleston dies

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Former Court of Appeals Judge Joseph R. Huddleston has died after a battle with cancer. He was 74.

Huddleston, who was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 1991, died Monday in Hilton Head, S.C., said his daughter, Lisa Loague of Bowling Green.

After graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1962, he practiced in Bowling Green for 25 years with his father and brothers before becoming Warren County Circuit Court judge, the Daily News reported. He took senior status with the Court of Appeals in 2003 and continued until 2007.

Loague said her father was known for trying to educate jurors about the judicial system and taking time to make sure they understood the process. She said he also shared stories and poetry with jurors.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT July 23 at Christ Episcopal Church in Bowling Green.
