Clemson hosting summer SC beekeeper meeting
CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Beekeepers from around South Carolina are buzzing into Clemson for their annual meeting.
Organizers expect many of the state’s 2,000 beekeepers for the three-day meeting of the South Carolina Beekeepers Association, which begns Thursday at Clemson University.
Lecture and workshops topics include information on rearing queen bees and keeping bears away from beehives.
Participants in the South Carolina Master Beekeeper program also will work toward becoming master level beekeepers. The four-level program tests a beekeeper’s knowledge and skills and requires public service to help educate the public about the value and protection of honey bees.
