Airline traffic up 23 percent on SC’s Grand Strand

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Passenger traffic through the Myrtle Beach International Airport was up sharply last month, another sign the tourism industry is bouncing back from the Great Recession.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that more than 102,000 passengers passed through the airport last month, up nearly 23 percent from June of last year.

The Grand Strand is the heart of South Carolina’s $18 billion tourism industry.
