Power of the Purse Fundraising Event

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- United Way of the Midlands’ Women in Philanthropy is rolling out the pink carpet this week for their 21st annual Power of the Purse event, and they’re encouraging everyone to come out to support the cause!

It’s their biggest fundraising event of the year, raising funds for grants to benefit programs that support women and children’s causes in the Midlands. This year, they’re supporting Calhoun County First Steps and The Cooperative Ministry.

Calhoun County First Steps uses the funds for its Parenting: Pathway to Resiliency program, which utilizes a home visitation strategy to equip parents with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote school readiness, healthy childhood development, and long-term success of their preschool-aged children.
The Cooperative Ministry uses the funds for its Financial Health and Empowerment program, which provides low-to-moderate income households with individualized financial assistance, education, and coaching to strengthen their capacity for self-support.

While raising money for a good cause, the Power of the Purse event will also feature live music from Terence Young band, a champagne tower and open bar, light bites provided by Capital City Catering, and a silent auction of one-of-a-kind designer handbags and other specialty items.

The event is held at the Columbia Museum of Art on Thursday, May 18th at 6:30pm. Tickets are $75 for guests ($85 at the door). Attire is business professional. Click here to get your tickets now!
