53-year-old grandmother dies in Pelzer house fire
ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 53-year-old grandmother has died in an Anderson County house fire that may have been started by an air conditioner
Deputy Coroner Don McCown tells WYFF-TV that Dordessa Talbert died of smoke inhalation in the fire at her Pelzer home just after 11 p.m. Saturday.
McCown says Talbert’s 13-year-old granddaughter tried to wake her up but couldn’t. McCown says the granddaughter got out of the house and went to the neighbors for help.
McCown says the fire may have started through an electrical shortage in the air conditioning unit, but the official cause is still under investigation.
The fire has been ruled an accident.
