Muslims Speak Out on Trump’s Comments

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) — Following the mass shooting in San Bernardino that officials are calling an act of terrorism, Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump is making a definitive stand.
“I’m calling very simply for a shut down of Muslims entering the United States, until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on,” says Trump.
The proposed ban on Muslims is drawing criticism by many, including the Muslim community here in the Midlands.
“A person making such extremist, one sided statements must not be given a position if even  community leadership let alone leading a nation,” says Chaudhry Sadiq.
According to Sadiq, Trump’s idea is a form of religious discrimination and goes against the freedoms the nation was founded on.
He tells ABC Columbia, “We must look into the causes and root causes and try to improve our society rather than having a double standard that only when there happens to be a Muslim faith comes in and that is absolutely unfair.”
Members of the Muslim community explain that the actions of self proclaimed-islamic terrorist groups contradict the core teachings of the religion.
“They don’t have anything linked with Islam or the prophet of Islam. Prophet said, I will be the witness against this kind of person. They are going direct towards hell they are killing innocent for nothing,” says Imam of one local mosque.
Additionally they say any strategy involving discrimination and division will only further the agenda of enemies.
Sadiq explains, “We must stand up and try to unite. Their aim will be to divide our nation that we must not allow to happen.”
