SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) — Popular attraction, Swan Lake Iris Gardens, reopened in Sumter Saturday, after being closed for two months in the wake of historic flooding.
Officials at the gardens said they finished repairs of several damaged areas to get them back open Saturday.
Nearly 20 inches of rain in Sumter caused floods that damaged more than half the gardens on the site.
Officials closed some areas that weren’t as heavily damaged to make repairs easier.
Swan Lake Iris Gardens says there is still some work to do and is asking visitors to be careful.
The gardens have eight species of swans, along with some of the most famous Japanese iris plantings in the country.
