LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — The Big South Conference baseball tournament is coming to Lexington’s new ballpark.
The league and the Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission announced Thursday a three-year deal to hold the yearly event for the next three years starting in May and running through 2018. The conference says it is the first time its spring tournament has been held at a “true neutral” location, previously being played at campus stadiums or ballparks close by the host school.
The 2,573-seat Lexington County Baseball Stadium opened in last May and is home to the Lexington County Blowfish of the summertime Coastal Plain League.
Big South Conference baseball features 11-teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. There are four teams from the Palmetto State in Coastal Carolina, Charleston Southern, Presbyterian and Winthrop.
