Election Day: What to Bring to the Polls

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) –It is Election Day and you need one of three forms of identification to vote: a South Carolina driver’s license, a DMV issued ID or your current voter registration card. Either gets you past the poll worker and to the voting booth. State election officials take you through voting etiquette for everything else you need to know. South Carolina State Election Commission spokesperson Chris Whitmire says planning and preparation are required prior to the hitting the polls; it’s not about just showing up to the vote. Verify where to go vote, he says, research the candidates and the issues, like the constitutional amendment questions on the ballot. “You don’t wanna be reading that for the first time in the voting booth and trying to comprehend this long, complicated legal question, ” Whitmire said. “Read it before you get there, so when you get to the voting booth, you’re just recording selections and can get back to your job and your neighbors can get to the booth.” Lastly, before leaving the booth… “…check selections under each office, answer each question, review the screen, then press vote. It asks if you’re sure.
