Police: Suspect in Columbia shooting located in Kansas

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia police say a man wanted in a deadly shooting last week was found in Kansas.

Investigators say just before 10:30 Wednesday morning officers in Junction City, Kansas detained Demetrius Jones during a traffic stop.

According to police Jones is accused in the shooting death of Ernest Byrd, 27, on Mitchell Street on October 6th.

Police say once Jones is returned to Columbia he will be charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.
