Investigation underway after inmate found non-responsive

Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. officials say a detainee at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center has died.

Officials say detention center staff discovered the detainee non-responsive in his cell around 7:15 Thursday morning.

A spokesperson says life-saving efforts by the on-site medical team and Richland Co. EMS were unsuccessful and the detainee was known to have a pre-existing medical condition.

The death is under investigation by the Richland Co. Coroner’s Office
