Police: SC State football player charged with having gun on campus
Orangeburg, S.C. (WOLO)– Police at South Carolina State University say Freshman Ja’Quan Toney was arrested Saturday and charged with carrying or displaying firearms in public buildings.
Investigators say at 8:30 Saturday night SC State Police Chief Timothy Taylor and two other officers saw Toney with the gun which resulted in his arrest.
Officials with the university say Toney was a member of the SC State Bulldogs football team at the time of his arrest, however he is no longer on the active roster.
A university spokesperson says Toney remains enrolled at South Carolina State.
