SLED releases 2022 crime in South Carolina report
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has released its 2022 crime in South Carolina report.
Data from the report shows an increase in weapon law violations.
The weapon law violation rate increased by 11% from 2021 to 2022 and 106% from 2013 to 2022.
Last year was the ninth straight year the Palmetto State saw an increase in those violations.
However, SLED says the data shows a decrease in both violent crime and murder rates for last year.
Sexual battery is at the lowest reported rate in the last 30 years.
