Local Living: Giving Tuesday in the Midlands
Local Living on ABC Columbia brought to you by MUSC Health
COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)– In our look at Local Living, Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday.
Organizers say the movement started in New York six years ago as a way to bring people together to give.
Today, it’s grown into a global effort.
Last year, organizers say more than 2.7 billion dollars was raised online in just 24 hours in the U.S. alone.

You can help make a child’s Christmas wish come true this holiday season.
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program is open and trees are up across the Midlands and online.
ABC Columbia is proud to partner with the Salvation Army for the project.
On the trees, you’ll find the names of children in need and some toys or clothes they hope to get for Christmas.

If you are not sure you’re ready for a full-time forever friend, the Columbia Animal Shelter is looking for volunteers for some part-time help.
The Shelter is offering two volunteer programs to give its animals a much-needed break from the shelter life.
Anyone interested can sign up for Doggie Day Out where you can take a shelter dog for a walk or on a field trip to meet other dogs.
Also, the shelter is looking for Slumber Buddies to take shelter pets home overnight or over the weekend.
