Funeral planned for woman shot by SLED agent
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — A woman authorities say was shot by a former South Carolina state police agent is being laid to rest.
Funeral services for 44-year-old Mary Ann Cox are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dial-Murray Funeral Home in Moncks Corner.
The State Law Enforcement Division says 61-year-old Charlie Boyette shot Cox three times on Friday afternoon outside a bank where Cox worked. Boyette then went behind the building and turned the gun on himself.
SLED officials said Boyette resigned July 20, a day after he was suspended following an assault complaint made by Cox. Authorities say the pair had been in a relationship that ended several weeks before, and Cox wanted Boyette to stay away from her.
Agents say Boyette had worked at SLED since 2000.
