Police: Mother Arrested After Toddler Left Home Alone

Ashpiana Dixon (ASGDC)

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) — A 22-year-old mother is in jail on a charge of unlawful conduct towards a child after her toddler was left home alone.

Authorities say Asphiana Dixon left her 2 year-old child alone in their Windmill Court residence for approximately two hours.

A maintenance employee was performing a work order at their home in  the Carriage House Apartments when the child was found, officials say.

Sheriff Leon Lott said  the child was asleep on a couch and unharmed.

Dixon arrived back to her apartment shortly after deputies arrived on scene and was arrested.

Deputies discovered the child had been left alone in the apartment since 11:00 a.m.

The child was taken into the care of the Department of Social Services.

Dixon has been transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
