W. Cola Man Dies Days After Hit-and-Run

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO) – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal hit and run accident that occurred at the junction of I-26 and I-126 Wednesday.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said 20-year-old Shawn Smith of West Columbia died from multiple trauma he sustained in the crash.

Smith was transported from the scene to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital where he died at Sunday evening, Watts said.

The case remains under investigation by the Columbia Police Department.
