USC parts ways with running backs coach Montario Hardesty

South Carolina running backs coach Montario Hardesty is out after three years with the program.

Hardesty confirmed the news Wednesday to ABC Columbia.

It’s the first staff move made by Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks, who finished 5-7 in the 2023season.

Hardesty, a former running back for the Tennessee Volunteers and Cleveland Browns, received a contract extension last January that would have kept the coach at USC through December of 2024. He was making $400,000 annually.

Hardesty was able to secure multiple commitments on the recruiting trail, including Arkansas running back Rocket Sanders and SC State’s Jawarn Howell. Both are expected to be immediate impacts at South Carolina.
