Election Commission Official Steps Down, Urges Director to do Same

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– The Chair of the Richland County Election Commission stepped down during a meeting Monday night. The resignation comes after an election day that saw lines of up to 5 hours and hundreds of votes not counted. Crum said while it was a difficult decision she felt it was necessary to restore the public’s confidence in the commission. She also suggested that the commission’s Executive Director Lillian McBride do the same. Crum stated that she had lost confidence in McBride’s ability to lead the commission. Also during Monday’s meeting, the commission asked lawmakers to pass an early voting bill.
