Judge: Evidence can be used against SC man

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Bullets seized at the home of a man accused in the disappearance of a Columbia teen can be used against him on a separate federal charge.

A federal judge ruled Wednesday that a warrant used to search the home of Freddie Grant was valid.

Grant is charged with kidnapping 15-year-old Gabbiee Swainson, who is still missing. . Authorities say Grant took the teen Aug. 18.

Grant is a convicted felon and is not allowed to have the bullets found at his home.

The ammunition was found as authorities searched his home for evidence in the teen’s disappearance.

Attorney John Delgado had argued that authorities did not give all relevant evidence to the judge who authorized the search warrant.

Grant’s trial on the federal charge is set for next month.
