Bar Fight Suspects Charged with Assault and Battery

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Two men have been arrested following a fight outside a bar Monday night.

Police say the suspects Frankie McDonald, 23, and Damon Wellsare, 17, are charged with second degree assault and battery by mob after allegedly assaulting two victims at Pavlov’s bar located in the 2000 block of Greene Street just after 11 p.m.

When officers arrived they found two 20-year-old males outside with visible injuries, officials say.

EMS transported the victims to a local hospital where one remains.

According to witnesses, one of the victims was arguing inside the bar prior to the physical assault, officials say.

The argument carried over to the outside as the victims walked away from the bar; that’s when witnesses say the suspects used a baseball bat to repeatedly hit the man, officials say.

The second victim was allegedly injured while he tried to break up the fight.

Authorities say the two men fled in an SUV, but were arrested hours later during a traffic stop.

Both men are being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Bond was set for both suspects at $50,000.
