FOREST ACRES, S.C. (WOLO) — SLED is investigating an officer-involved shooting along Forest Drive.

Officials with SLED say the Forest Acres Police Department received a loud noise complaint in the Brookwood Court area early Thursday morning.

When officers responded to the scene they found an individual in a vehicle.   Officials say that man then tried to hit one of the responding officers with his car.   That’s when the officer fired on the car, according to authorities.    Officers were able to follow the vehicle, which eventually crashed in the South Carolina Federal Credit Union parking lot off Forest Drive.

The driver, who was shot, was taken to the hospital.  His condition is unknown at this time.

Officials say the officer was not hurt in this incident.

SLED is investigating, as is routine for an officer-involved shooting.
